Welcome to Microman Microbiology. This site was created mainly for my microbiology students at Navarro College, but anyone interested in the wonderful, small world of microorganisms is welcomed.
Some of my favorite microbiology topic are:
1. Food borne pathogens - whenever there is a recall of food, be sure to check you refrigerator for the recalled items. We have seen a bunch of recalls in the last 6-12 months.
2. Antibiotic resistance - a big problem today and into the future. We must get this problem under control.
3. Biological weapons - it is not a question of if they will be used, it is a question of when they will be used.
4. How microorganisms have changed the course of history - the Black Death in 1348 is a good example.
5. Microorganisms are everywhere - watch out for the handles on grocery carts and the black handrails on escalators and the door handles in public restrooms.
